New Zealand - China Free Trade Agreement.

Negotiated over 15 rounds over three years, the NZ-China FTA marks an historic point in the New Zealand-China relationship. The Agreement now becomes the platform on which to grow the relationship further on all fronts, economic, political and cultural.

Progressing the FTA

In recent years the bilateral relationship with China has grown to become one of New Zealand's most valuable. As a global and regional power and now New Zealand's third-largest trading partner, China has become increasingly important to us as a bilateral, regional and multilateral partner.

The emergence of China as a major economic and political power, and the opportunities that China as a market offers is well documented; a population of 1.3 billion, a rapidly expanding, affluent and astute middle class and a sustained real GDP growth rate of over 10% per annum.
